Wheelchair
The Problem:
- 24V wheelchair; the only solution,
solar
- Small solar is 12VDC
- Wheelchairs are used when the sun is
shining
- Limited funds to work with
The Solution:
- Use a 12V system to charge a 12V battery
- Use an inexpensive and efficient inverter
to power an efficient 24VDC battery charger
The Result:
- The solar panels charge the solar panels
during the day while the wheelchair is being used
- The 12V battery supplies an inverter
to an efficient 24V battery charger at night, charging
the wheelchair batteries
Side Note: The factory-supplied
wheelchair charger had horrible efficiency. The only
way this project was feasible was by using a more efficient
surplus 24V battery charger from an army truck. |
