An innovative silicone sealant formulation has been specified for the new 20-story corporate headquarters of Pier 1 Imports in downtown Ft. Worth, Texas, to help preserve the unique aesthetics of the building’s stone and glass curtainwall design.

100% silicone sealants from Dow were used in the development of a complex, laminated glass curtain wall façade for the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center.

As with any construction in the Middle East, Dow’s technical experts were confronted with testing and specifying products that are able to withstand the rigors of high temperature, ultra-violet light, seismic activity and inclement weather conditions including sandstorms and high winds. In addition, large areas of the curtain wall, which in total is equivalent in size to 17 soccer fields, are positioned at extreme height, which in turn, brings a new set of technical challenges.
